About the Founders
“Giving life to clothes and futures,” Like most of us, for most of my life, I have worked to further opportunities for myself or my loved ones. However, I have always wanted to do something to give back to the community, but nothing concrete came to mind. Then one day, I realized that all my friends and family kept discussing what to do with their beautiful clothes worth hundreds of dollars. Sadly, these expensive clothes are often only worn once or twice at dinner parties as people get bored and want to mix up their wardrobe, eventually ending up in the trash. Because of this process, I could not bear seeing all these clothes get wasted. From this thought came the seeds for this non-profit organization, a platform for everyone to donate their misfit items and declutter their closet, others can enjoy them at a very low price, and we can save them from reaching the landfill. We named it “Wear2Teach,” which began in September 2022. Beyond saving the environment, we also strive to help future generations with their education. As a result, all the proceeds go to Chandler Unified School District towards two $1000 college scholarships to underserved kids.
Additionally, my son Rahul has always had a passion for the environment and waste reduction, and thus began our journey together with our new mission. Despite both school and my work, Rahul and I spend 2-4 hours almost every evening and about 8-10 hours on weekends to sort, wash/steam wash/dry-clean, mend and measure, iron, take pictures, upload images on the website, and pack donated clothes so that they reach you in a ready-to-wear state.
Note, we have no prior experience in the field. We are learning by consistent practice. Thus, any feedback and help are appreciated! Please reach out with any suggestions, to apply to volunteer, and/or to buy or donate clothes at 480-799-7001 or wear2teach.com! You can also find us on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. We hope you understood our message, and we cannot wait to see you join the Wear2Teach family! Thank you for your time!
